Why an Old Honda Civic Can Be a Great electric Car

If you commute to work a lot in your car, you will appreciate the features of an electric vehicle (Ev). An Ev is cheaper to run and cost less to contend compared to a conventional car. With high gasoline prices, finding ways to sacrifice our power expense bill is a blessing. Unfortunately, a brand new electric car is still quite high-priced to purchase. Many people have started to turn a gas driven car to electric via a Do It Yourself (Diy) approach. One of the most beloved donor cars used for the conversion task is an old Honda Civic.

If you have an old Honda Civic, you can turn it to an Ev at your home garage. Even if you do not have one, it does cost a lot to buy a used Civic. The idea of the electric car retrofitting is to take out the internal combustion engine and replace it with an electric motor. The motor is related to the existing transmission unit. A series of deep cycle batteries will be used to power the motor.

An old Honda Civic can be a great Ev because of its covenant develop and light weight. Since an electric car would have to carry its own power source in the batteries, less weight is better. An electric car without unnecessary load will be able to trip additional before it has to be recharged. An average electric car with 10 to 15 units of batteries can cover up to 100 miles before recharge. A converted Honda Civic with the same whole of batteries can trip up to 150 miles.
